Sometimes a girl just needs a concert. Huge speakers, bright lights, lots of happy people, what’s not to like? It’s the perfect place to go and relax your mind. The energy is positive and the music is always too loud to think. In the words of the great Hunter S. Thomspon , “Buy the ticket, take the ride.”
My friend and I went to a “Cheap Trick” concert a few weeks ago and had a blast. I like a variety of music, from “The Black Keys” to “Portishead” to “The Supremes”, and it’s easy for me to get into most live music because the passion is all right in front of you. I was never really familiar with “Cheap Trick” prior to seeing them live, but we had a great time none the less. Those guys can still rock, they have great showmanship, and lots of little surprises.
For those of you who are like me, and like to go to random concerts, I suggest learning a little background on the band you are seeing before you go to the concert. It will make the experience a lot more enjoyable and also you might be able to sing along to some of the songs. Mel and I obviously knew a few of their hits since they are a pretty popular band, but if your heading into more obscure music territory, always learn a little bit about the band you’re seeing. And of course, try to squeeze in right up front. You might even get lucky enough to snag a guitar pick.
