Memorial weekend my mother, brother, and myself decided the weather was gorgeous enough to have a little adventure at Tahquamenon Falls. Here are some of the photos from that beautiful five mile hike. We only hiked halfway through, so we did not get to the upper falls, but we made a promise to ourselves that this fall we will do the entire 10 mile hike in all its glory. It’s so beautiful there! There are always other hikers, but it’s secluded enough for you to feel like you’re all alone with the woods.
Nothing like a chili dog before a beautiful day in the woods. Yum yum. It’s protein right?
Here’s a candid shot of my brother and I as he tries to sneak away.
The trails were definitely medium difficulty. It had rained the day before and the trail was mostly mud puddles and slicks. My poor shoes.
Some days you just need to take a break and be surrounded by trees.
I was watching a movie on Friday night called “Wild” with Reese Witherspoon. I really liked it and I thought it applied to this blog.
In the movie, her mother always told her something very important.
This statement basically drove Reese’s character, Cheryl Strayed, to hike the Pacific Crest Trail when her life was in a downward spiral.
Her mother always told her, “Put yourself in the way of beauty.”
I think we did a pretty good job of that on Memorial Day weekend don’t you?
Put yourself in the way of beauty every day.
