Happy Monday Sickness Hell-o

April 24, 2017

Dear readers,
The stomach flu finally hit me like a ton of bricks. Spring illnesses are always the worst, I tell ya. I took a nap on Sunday and I woke up with a pounding headache and watery stomach. I thought maybe it was just the nap that made me feel ill. Squeak and I had a great little day indoors, we even ventured outside and cooked s’mores on the grill. I had zero indication I was going to be severely ill later that day.

I cooked up dinner (gagging) and read some books to Squeak for World Book Day #LovetoRead. She’s really into the Llama, Llama… books by Anna Dewdney. I love them because they’re short so you can read a few of them before bed, and you can make them interactive (Llama, Llama clap, clap, clap!). I included the links to the books I have below, let me know what you think!

So yes. Then the inevitable sickness washed over me before bedtime, a World Book Day surprise, and I’ve been in hell ever since. I hate calling into work, it’s one of those single-mom lose/lose situations because you tend to call in more than the average employee because you’ve got your child’s health and your own to worry about. I’m lucky in the regard that I get along relatively well with my ex these days and he is more than willing to work with me when our Squeak is sick. I give women who have all the pressure on them great props and would love to hear how they do it.

Luckily, I’m starting to feel a little better tonight. I can’t handle sitting around and doing nothing, so this forced me to catch up on sleep and also fold laundry. My one tip for the stomach flu? Sprite or ginger ale. Works wonders when you can’t hold anything down :(

Want a few tasty snacks to help you stay healthy? I have some ideas…
